Portland producer FENRA, the electronic project of B Laws, has just unleashed his latest single ‘DEEPCUT’ on 6x Records, hitting all streaming platforms on November 7, 2025. Originally from Santa Rosa, California, but now rooted in Oregon’s vibrant scene, FENRA draws from a childhood steeped in artistic triggers and the early church hymns that hooked him on harmony alongside his grandmother. Picking up guitar at 14 on his own, he dove into synths, vocals, and drums through bands that crisscrossed the US, Europe, and Asia on tour. Now, he’s honing that road-tested edge into solo work influenced by heavyweights like Caribou, Four Tet, Floating Points, Bonobo, and DJ Koze, as well as the stark lines of Philip Glass and the raw feel of Gloria Ann Taylor. This drop builds on the hazy downtempo of his prior single ‘COFFEE’, which debuted via Magnetic Magazine, and serves as a key entry point to his debut EP Delusional, out November 28 and polished by mastering pro Aneek Thapar—known for shaping sounds for Rival Consoles and Max Cooper.

At its core, ‘DEEPCUT’ pulses with a mysterious urgency. It layers a twisted synth line over subtle string swells and hazy pads that expand across the mix. Shuffling beats creep in. They gain traction as light, drifting textures add depth. A coiled bass groove kicks in midway, pulling everything into a tight fusion of drive and space. Downtempo electronic with an undercurrent of propulsion. It rewards patient listeners with layers that stack and shift without rushing the payoff.

FENRA had this to say: “‘DEEPCUT’ opens with a skewed synth melody over strings and atmospheric textures, building tension slowly before revealing its full shape. It’s one of the most energetic tracks on the EP, but I wanted it to take its time — the bassline doesn’t arrive until almost three minutes in, when the track finally locks into place.”
