Jacob Colon has carved out a powerful lane in the House scene, blending Latin influences with hard-hitting percussion and deep grooves. With a background spanning piano, live band performance, and multiple genres, his sound has earned major recognition, including a #1 Billboard award alongside Crystal Waters. In this interview, Jacob dives into his journey and his official playlist, breaking down the music that continues to move the dance floor.
You recently launched your official playlist — what inspired you to create it now, and what role do you want it to play for your audience?
This represents the type of music I enjoy playing at the gym, vibing in the car or using as inspiration to produce my own tracks.
How would you describe the vibe or musical identity of the playlist? Is there a specific mood, genre blend, or energy you’re curating?
First, it’s a collection of House music. The blend is more of the energy I vibe with in regard to the low end and groove.
What’s the criteria for a track to make it onto the playlist — is it all instinct, or do you have a selection process in mind?
Whatever feels right and makes me move. That’s pretty much the formula I go with. It’s kind of like when you listen and get that ‘feeling’. That means, yeah, I’m gonna add this one to the list.
Does the playlist include only your music and collaborations, or will it also showcase tracks from other artists that influence or excite you?
A little bit of everything. It has my own tracks, as well as other producers I would like to work with and do work with.
Is there a deeper story or message behind the first selection of tracks you included?
Not too much like I mentioned before, I’m just going off with a feeling more than anything.
How often do you plan on updating the playlist, and will it evolve with your own
releases and creative direction?
Well, I am currently updating my Made To Move Radio playlist weekly so I’ll probably update this one every two or three weeks and just rotate tracks in and out.
For artists and producers discovering your playlist — is there a chance you’ll use it as a space to support emerging talent?
Of course. Though I love to play familiar tracks, I like to showcase those heaters from the not so well-known producers as well.
Where do you discover the tracks you add — are they label submissions, underground finds, live set favorites, or a mix of everything?
A mix of everything. I get a ton of promos throughout the week, so once I go through those, I’ll pick and choose or try to find music that I hear in a live set or recorded set from someone else. Those types of tracks are usually the more popular ones.
Do you see the playlist connecting with your upcoming releases or live performances, almost as a bridge between your studio and your audience?
Yeah, I’m definitely looking into that more now that I’ve got this started. I’ll have my newest track showcase there first when they’re released.
If someone hits play for the first time, what do you hope they walk away feeling or understanding about you as an artist?
I want to create that vibe that kinda makes you smile a little bit. Whatever that feeling is called, that’s what I’m trying to create for the listener.
From his early days on piano to topping the Billboard charts, Jacob Colon continues to push the boundaries of House music. Be sure to check out his official playlist to experience the tracks that inspire him and keep the dance floor alive.
